Relationship Therapy
Focuses on improving a significant relationship.
Often referred to as “couples counseling,” relationship therapy focuses on improving communication and understanding between two people. While this therapy is often applied to married couples or individuals in romantic relationships, we find it addresses the needs of any two-party relationship in distress, including friendships and familial connections.
Relationship therapy may work on improving:

Emotional disconnect

Repetitive conflict
Intimacy
Navigating life and family transitions
Family Therapy
Addresses struggles within a family unit.
Family therapy supports healthy relationship patterns and positive and effective communication within families.
Family therapy may focus on:
Parent-adult child relationships
Co-parenting relationships and transitions
Blended family challenges
Generational stress and trauma
The goal of family therapy is greater understanding among family members, healthier communication, and a stronger family connection.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Offers targeted treatment for specific trauma.
Trauma-informed therapy uses specific therapeutic practices, including EMDR, to address issues, including:
Post-traumatic stress symptoms
Developmental or attachment struggles

Nervous system dysregulation and somatic stress responses
EMDR and other nervous-system-centered interventions help clients process unresolved experiences and restore safety, stability, and self-trust.

Renewal River Counseling provides outpatient telehealth services appropriate for virtual care.
We do not provide treatment for eating disorders requiring medical stabilization, active psychosis, or severe substance dependence requiring detox or intensive outpatient treatment. When specialized or higher-level care is needed, we assist with referrals and care coordination.
-
Well, the short answer here is “any time.” The long answer is that counseling can be useful in any stage of life or relationship.
You don’t have to wait until you are struggling to start working on your understanding of self or others. We are here to support you in any part of your journey to renewal, whether you are just getting started, in the middle of a struggle, or looking to maintain your current state.
-
We get it, and we’ll help you get there if talking about your challenges is where you want to end up.
Our trauma-informed practices meet you where you are. Together, we will help you determine the treatment that will be most beneficial.
-
Well, that’s good because we don’t have one. With telehealth, you have the ability to have your sessions wherever you feel comfortable and have a stable internet connection.
-
You’ll receive a secure link to your scheduled appointment through the patient portal. When it is time for your session, you will click on the link, the practitioner will let you in the virtual room or accept you into the call, and you will begin your session. How a session runs is determined by the type of treatment you and your counselor decide to use.
A typical session may start with you catching your counselor up on the events in your life since the last session or diving right in to the issue you were exploring in the last session.

It depends. Rates vary based on insurance. Please see our Fees & Scheduling page for more information on monetary costs.
The non-monetary costs of therapy vary but its impact is rewarding. You will spend your time and energy to heal, but investing in your life and giving yourself the ability to flow forward toward recovery is worth the expense.
